PITTSBURGH, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Matt Morris allowed a run on six hits over seven innings Wednesday, carrying Pittsburgh to a 5-1 win over Arizona.
The Diamondbacks suffered their third straight loss as they struggle to maintain their lead in the National League West. They began the night with a two-game advantage over San Diego and a three-game edge over Colorado.
Arizona's last three games of the regular season will be in Colorado.
Morris improved to 10-11 with Adam LaRoche contributing two doubles and three RBI. Xavier Nady also homered for Pittsburgh, which has won back-to-back contests after dropping a season-worst nine straight.
Livan Hernandez (11-11) suffered the loss, giving up 10 hits and four runs in four-plus innings.
The game was delayed for almost an hour by rain in the bottom of the second.
