ATLANTA, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- The Atlanta Falcons Wednesday fined cornerback DeAngelo Hall for his tirade Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
The former first-round pick by the Falcons in the NFL Draft in 2004 was told he will not start this Sunday against the Houston Texans.
"We are keeping that in-house and that is something between us," Coach Bobby Petrino said on the team’s Web site. "Obviously, you don’t like distractions. We’ve dealt with them, put them behind us and we’ve moved on."
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Hall’s fine is at least $100,000.
It was levied after the former Pro Bowl choice was called for three penalties totaling 67 yards on one possession in the third quarter, which led to the Falcons’ 27-20 loss after Carolina earned a 17-17 tie.
Two of the penalties were personal fouls, and caused a shouting match among Hall, Petrino and assistant coach Joe Whitt Jr. before teammates restrained Hall.
Hall will file a grievance with the NFL Players Association, the newspaper said.
