WASHINGTON, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Austin Kearns had three hits and two RBI Sunday afternoon as the Nationals beat Philadelphia, 5-3, in the final game at Washington’s RFK Stadium.

He hit RBI singles in the bottom of the first and sixth innings to increase his RBI total to 66 this season.

Washington’s Robert Fick, Brian Schneider, and Jesus Flores all had one RBI, and D’Angelo Jiminez had two hits as the Nationals stopped a four-game losing streak.

The winner was Luis Ayala (2-2), and Chad Cordero earned his 36th save, despite giving up a run in the ninth.

Three Philadelphia players had one RBI.

No one had more than one hit for the Phillies, who were bidding for a four-game sweep.

Slugging first baseman Ryan Howard equaled a single-season record in the fourth inning by striking out for the 195th time.

The losing pitcher was Antonio Alfonseca (5-2).

RFK Stadium was the home-field for Washington since the franchise moved from Montreal in 2005.
