MLB: Baltimore 6, Toronto 2

TORONTO, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Brian Burres threw seven shutout innings Friday night and won for the first time in almost two months as the Baltimore Orioles downed Toronto, 6-2.

Burres (6-5) gave up eight hits and struck out four. Jim Hoey continued the shutout in the eighth inning and Jamie Walker gave up two runs in the ninth.

Tike Redman had three of Baltimore's 12 hits and scored twice, while Brian Roberts hit his 11th homer of the season -- a solo shot with two away in the second that gave the Orioles a 3-0 lead.

The loss went to Jesse Litsch (5-9), who gave up seven hits and four runs over three innings. He has dropped his last three starts.

Toronto has lost six out of seven.

Baltimore has won two in a row, the first time the Orioles have done that since Aug. 14-15.
