The United States won the last Solheim Cup in 2005 at Crooked Stick in Carmel, Ind., but Europe has won the last two times the event has been staged in Europe.
This year it is being contested at Halmstad, Sweden, beginning Friday.
Friday’s foursomes also include America’s Laura Diaz and Sherri Steinhauer against Annika Sorenstam and Catriona Matthew of Europe, with Juli Inkster and Paula Creamer facing the European tandem of Laura Davies -- the only player to compete in all 10 Solheim Cups -- and European rookie Becky Brewerton.
Friday and Saturday, there is one session of foursomes and one session of four-balls. Sunday, all 12 players from each side play singles matches.
Europe is favored.
