MLB: Oakland 7, Seattle 4

SEATTLE, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Mike Piazza and Shannon Stewart drove in two runs apiece Tuesday, propelling Oakland to a 7-4 win over slumping Seattle.

Mark Ellis aided the Athletics' effort by going 4-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI.

Dallas Braden surrendered four runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings for Oakland . Ruddy Lugo (6-0) got the win after tossing 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Adrian Beltre homered for the reeling for the Mariners, who have dropped 15 of 17 games and now find themselves a virtually insurmountable 6 1/2 games behind the New York Yankees in the AL wild card race. Jose Vidro was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Jarrod Washburn (9-14) was touched for six runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings of work to pick up the loss.
