MLB: Arizona 5, San Francisco 3

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Jeff Salazar, hobbled by a bad ankle, blasted a pinch-hit, three-run homer in the ninth inning Monday, lifting Arizona to a 5-3 win over San Francisco.

Livan Hernandez gave up eight hits and three walks but limited the Giants to three runs over six innings. He struck out four for the Diamondbacks, who have won six straight and eight of 11 to lead the NL West by 3 1/2 games over idle San Diego.

Emilio Bonifacio, in his first career start, collected his first two career hits, and his first two RBI.

Salazar's key hit wiped out the two-homer performance by Bengie Molina for the Giants, who had won three of four entering the game.

Giants starter Tim Lincecum held the Diamondbacks to two runs on six hits with three strikeouts and three walks in 6 2/3 innings. Brad Hennessey (3-5) got the first two outs of the ninth, but couldn't close the game out for the Giants.
