MLB: Texas 7, Oakland 3

ARLINGTON, Texas, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Hank Blalock had three hits, one a solo home run, Saturday night, as the Texas Rangers beat the Oakland Athletics, 7-3, for their fourth straight win.

The solo shot in a four-run fourth was Blalock’s seventh homer this season. He also hit RBI singles in the first and seventh innings.

Four Texas players drove in one run each. Marlon Byrd also had three hits, and Ian Kinsler had two.

The winning pitcher was A.J. Murray (1-1).

Oakland got one RBI each from Marco Scutaro and Shannon Stewart. One run scored on Michael Young’s eighth-inning error, while Scutaro and Nick Swisher both had two hits for the Athletics, who have dropped four of five.

The losing pitcher was starter Chad Gaudin (10-11).
