MLB: San Francisco 4, LA Dodgers 2

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Ray Durham belted a three-run pinch-hit homer in the bottom of the eighth Sunday afternoon as the San Francisco Giants beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 4-2.

Durham's 11th homer this season erased a 2-1 deficit.

Randy Winn drove in San Francisco's other run on an RBI groundout in the bottom of the first. Bengie Molina had three hits, and Dave Roberts had a run and two hits as the Giants won twice in the three-game series.

Winner Tyler Walker (1-0) got his first victory since May 19, 2006, and closer Steve Hennessey earned his 19th save.

Both Los Angeles runs scored on solo homers by former Giant Jeff Kent in the second and seventh innings.

Andre Ethier and Russell Martin also had two hits for the Dodgers, who remained 2 1/2 games back of San Diego in the NL wild-card chase, as the Padres lost, 4-2, to Colorado.

The losing pitcher was Joe Beimel (4-2).
