MLB: Colorado 4, San Diego 2

DENVER, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Josh Fogg gave up an earned run and seven hits in five innings Sunday, as the Colorado Rockies beat San Diego, 4-2.

Colorado led, 3-0, after the first on Todd Helton’s RBI single and Garrett Atkins’ two-run homer. With the lead just 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth, Matt Holliday added a solo homer.

Helton had two of the four hits, as the Rockies got their second win in the three-game series.

Fogg (9-9) out-dueled Cy Young contender Chris Young in his third straight quality start, helping the Rockies remain in the National League wild-card hunt.

San Diego scored on RBI hits by Michael Barrett in the fourth and Kevin Kouzmanoff in the eighth.

Barrett was one of three players with two hits, but the Padres stranded 10 base-runners, and trail Arizona by two games in the NL West.

Young (9-7) gave up three earned runs and just two hits in five innings with, five walks and eight strikeouts.
