COL FB: California 34, Colorado St. 28

FORT COLLINS, Colo., Sept. 8 (UPI) -- DeSean Jackson and Jahvid Best each had long touchdown runs Saturday as 10th-ranked California withstood a late rally to beat Colorado State 34-28.

Jackson scored on a 73-yard run in the first quarter and Best on a 64-yard run in the fourth for the Golden Bears (2-0).

Cal quarterback Nate Longshore completed 19-of-29 passes for 147 yards. Justin Forsett had 15 carries for 55 yards and a TD for the Bears.

Caleb Hanie had 302 yards on 21-of-29 passing with a touchdown and an interception for the Rams (0-2), who have lost nine straight dating back to last year. Kyle Bell rushed for 102 yards and 26 carries with two touchdowns for Colorado State, which trailed 34-14 in the fourth quarter before rallying.
