MLB: Toronto 7, Tampa Bay 2

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- Dustin McGowan struck out 12 over eight innings Friday night in carrying the Toronto Blue Jays to a 7-2 decision over Tampa Bay.

McGowan (10-8) gave up two earned runs on four hits before giving way to Jason Frasor in the ninth.

Gregg Zaun hit a three-run homer and Matt Stairs drove in two runs, in helping Toronto win for the fifth time in seven games.

Toronto scored all its runs in the fifth and sixth innings, with Stairs producing an RBI single in both frames. Zaun's homer came as part of the Blue Jays' four-run sixth.

Edwin Jackson (4-14) gave up all seven runs while lasting 5 2/3 innings. He gave up seven hits and walked three.
