MLB: Tampa Bay 17, Baltimore 2

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Carlos Pena had two home runs Wednesday, one of them a grand slam, and a team-record seven RBI in carrying Tampa Bay to a 17-2 smashing of Baltimore.

Delmon Young added a three-run homer, and both Brendan Harris and Jonny Gomes had solo blasts as part of a 22-hit onslaught that brought the Devil Rays their seventh win in nine games.

Tampa Bay set franchise records for most total bases (40) and largest margin of victory. The Devil Rays came within two runs of equaling the club record in that department.

Pena extended his franchise record for homers in a season to 37. His grand slam highlighted an eight-run fourth inning, during which the Devil Rays had three home runs. Pena boosted his RBI total to 105.

Andy Sonnanstine (5-9) won his third straight start, giving up nine hits and two runs over six innings. The loss went to Radhames Liz (0-2), who was making his third major start. He allowed four runs on six hits in 1 2/3.
