MLB: LA Angels 4, Oakland 3

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Francisco Rodriguez' clutch pitching, and two-run homers by Howie Kendrick and Garret Anderson propelled the LA Angeles to a 4-3 win over Oakland Tuesday.

Kendrick's homer came in the third and Anderson added his in the sixth off losing pitcher Lenny DiNardo.

Rodriguez struck out Nick Swisher and Jack Cust with the tying run in scoring position to close out the Angels' victory.

Jered Weaver (11-6) won for the third straight start, giving up two runs on seven hits over six frames. The right-hander has given up just four runs -- three earned -- over his last 20 innings.

Shannon Stewart homered and drove in all of Oakland's runs.

DiNardo (8-8) gave up the four runs on eight hits with two walks and three strikeouts over six frames.

The Angels have won seven of nine and increased their lead in the AL West to 7 1/2 games over Seattle. Oakland has dropped two in a row and eight of 11.
