MLB: Milwaukee 3, Pittsburgh 2

MILWAUKEE, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Winning pitcher Yovani Gallardo hit a solo home run Friday night to help the Milwaukee Brewers beat Pittsburgh, 3-2.

Gallardo's second homer of the season produced the eventual winning run, and gave Milwaukee a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth.

Milwaukee’s Corey Hart had two hits and two RBI. Gabe Gross had two runs and two hits, as the Brewers got the second win in their last three games.

Gallardo (6-4) surrendered two earned runs and five hits in seven innings, with a walk and seven strikeouts.

Closer Francisco Cordero earned his 38th save this season.

Pittsburgh’s Adam LaRoche had three hits, including a solo homer in the fourth. Ronny Paulino added an RBI double in the seventh, and three others had one hit each for the Pirates, who have dropped three in a row.

Losing pitcher Tony Armas (2-5) gave up three earned runs and four hits in six innings, with two walks and five strikeouts.
