SEATTLE, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- The Mariners still haven't figured out John Lackey, who pitched nine shutout innings Monday, leading the LA Angels to a 6-0 victory over Seattle.
Lackey (16-8) scattered seven hits, didn't issue a walk and struck out five Mariners. It was the third time he's beaten Seattle in three starts this season. The Mariners haven't scored a run in 24 straight innings against him.
Garret Anderson went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI while Kendry Morales ended 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Angels, who have won two straight and increased their lead to three games over the Mariners in the AL West.
Seattle starter Miguel Batista (13-10) gave up six runs on 10 hits in six innings to go along with three strikeouts and no walks.
Jose Vidro and Raul Ibanez each had two hits for the Mariners, who lost ground to the Angels but still lead New York by two games for the AL wild card lead. The Yankees lost to Detroit earlier Monday.
