Giants WR Tyree breaks wrist

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Aug. 27 (UPI) -- New York Giants announced Monday that wide receiver David Tyree fractured his left wrist and will miss the next 4-6 weeks.

Tyree was injured in Saturday's 20-12 exhibition loss to the Jets, but X-rays weren't taken until the following morning. He was to undergo surgery Monday night.

Tyree, 27, played in all 16 games for the Giants last season, catching 19 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns. He also made the Pro Bowl in 2005.

Coach Tom Coughlin also announced Monday that wide receiver Plaxico Burress had his back examined at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan, while running back Robert Douglas will need arthroscopic surgery after suffering a knee injury against the Jets.
