Stricker takes third-round Barclays lead

HARRISON, N.Y., Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Steve Stricker shot a 6-under 65 Saturday to take a one stroke lead after three rounds of the PGA's Barclays Classic at Harrison, N.Y.

Stricker, 40, completed 54 holes at 14-under 199 to match the 54-hole record set by Ernie Els in 1997.

K.J. Choi (70) made a birdie on the final hole to get within one stroke of Stricker at 200.

Hunter Mahan (62) matched the course record with a 9-under 62 in the third round to share third place with Rich Beem (69) at 12-under 201.

The last previous golfer to shoot 62 in the third round was Peter Jacobsen in 1982.

Woody Austin (66), Geoff Ogilvy (69) and Rory Sabbatini (69) are tied for fifth at 203.
