MLB: Seattle 4, Texas 2

ARLINGTON, Texas, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Jose Guillen hit a homer and then singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh Friday night, as the Seattle Mariners defeated Texas, 4-2.

The Mariners, who went into the evening trailing the Los Angeles Angels by just one game in the American League West, have won seven out of eight.

Ichiro Suzuki and Raul Ibanez both had three hits.

Felix Hernandez (10-6) won his fourth straight decision, allowing three hits and two runs with seven strikeouts over six innings.

J.J. Putz came on in the ninth for his 37th save.

The loss went to Kevin Millwood (8-11), who gave up four runs on 13 hits over 8 2/3 innings.

In a 2-2 game, Suzuki singled in the seventh and went to second on a ground out by Jose Vidro. Guillen singled Suzuki home to put the Mariners in front, and they added a run in the ninth on consecutive base hits by Jose Lopez, Suzuki and Vidro.

Guillen's homer came in the first inning.
