MLB: Colorado 5, Washington 1

DENVER, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Ubaldo Jimenez allowed an earned run and three hits over seven innings Saturday night as the Colorado Rockies beat Washington, 5-1.

Colorado spotted Washington a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI groundout by Nook Logan, but then went on to score the game’s final five runs.

Colorado’s Troy Tulowitzki hit a solo homer, and Brad Hawpe added a two-run shot in the fourth. Matt Holliday had two hits and one RBI, while Hawpe also had two hits for the Rockies, who have split their last four games.

The hard-throwing Jiminez walked two batters and struck out four. He has given up just one run and 10 hits in his last three starts.

Austin Kearns had two of the four hits for the Nationals, who have dropped three of four.

Losing pitcher Tim Redding (3-4) surrendered five earned runs and six hits in four innings.
