CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Tom Brady threw two touchdown passes Friday night, as the New England Patriots beat Carolina, 24-7, in an NFL pre-season game at Charlotte.
The veteran quarterback arrived in time for the contest after flying to California Thursday to be with former girlfriend Bridgette Moynihan as she gave birth to a boy, the first child for both.
Brady was sharp in the game, going 17-for-22 for 167 yards.
New England’s defense bent, but did not break, as Panther quarterback Jake Delhomme passed for his team’s only touchdown, a 48-yard pass to Keary Colbert, in the second quarter.
Delhomme went 11-for-18 for 162 yards, but a promising Carolina drive in the second quarter ended with his only interception.
Both teams are 1-2 in the preseason.
