MLB: Chicago White Sox 5, Kansas City 2

CHICAGO, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Jim Thome had a home run and three RBI Tuesday, powering the Chicago White Sox to a 5-2 win over the Kansas City Royals.

Paul Konerko and Danny Richar also homered for the White Sox, who have won two in a row after an eight-game losing streak.

Javier Vazquez (11-6) got the win after giving up two runs on five hits in six innings.

Royals starter Leo Nunez (2-1) allowed four runs on six hits in four innings for his first loss since 2005.

Emil Brown went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI for the Royals, who have lost three straight.

Thome's two-run homer was his 493rd career homer, tying him with Lou Gehrig and Fred McGriff for 23rd place on the all-time list.
