MLB: Cincinnati 7, Milwaukee 6

MILWAUKEE, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Jose Valentin knocked in the winning runs with a pinch-hit two-run double Sunday afternoon, as the Cincinnati Reds edged Milwaukee, 7-6.

The hit came in top of the eighth inning, when Valentin batted for Ryan Jorgensen, and erased a 6-5 deficit.

Cincinnati’s Brandon Phillips and Adam Dunn hit two-run homers. Jeff Conine had one RBI, three players had two hits, while Jeff Keppinger had a run and three hits for the Reds, who took two of the three games at Miller Park.

The winner was Bill Bray (2-0). David Weathers earned his 25th save.

Milwaukee scored all its runs on home runs by Ryan Braun (solo), Bill Hall (two-run), Prince Fielder (two-run) and J.J. Hardy (solo).

Hardy had three hits for the struggling Brewers, who have seven losses in their last 10 games.

The losing pitcher was reliever Scott Linebrink (4-4).
