MLB: N.Y. Mets 6, Washington 2

WASHINGTON, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Mike DeFelice knocked in three runs Friday night as the New York Mets beat Washington, 6-2.

DeFelice's two-run triple in the top of the eighth basically secured Tom Glavine's 301st career victory. DeFelice also hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth.

New York's Moises Alou and Damion Easley hit solo home runs. David Wright had one RBI and Luis Castillo had two hits for the Mets, who have won four of their last five games.

Glavine (11-6) surrendered an earned run and eight hits in seven innings, with a walk and six strikeouts.

Washington scored on Dmitri Young's RBI double in the third and Austin Kearns' RBI single in the eighth.

Ryan Zimmerman had two runs and three hits while Kearns and Young had two hits each for the Nationals, losers three times in their last five games.

The losing pitcher was Matt Chico (5-7).
