Huston out to secure FedEx Cup berth

GREENSBORO, N.C., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- John Huston, going for a spot in the lucrative FedEx Cup, grabbed a share of the lead Friday after two rounds of the Wyndham Championship at Greensboro, N.C.

Huston shot his second straight 66 at the Forest Oaks Country Club, to tie Jeff Overton and Steve Marino for the top spot at 12-under 132.

Carl Pettersson, Tim Petrovic, Greg Kraft, Craig Kanada and Anders Hansen were all at 133. First-round leader Will MacKenzie settled for a 71 Friday that left him tied for 11th at 135.

The first FedEx Cup in PGA Tour history begins next week, with 144 players competing in a series of four tournaments for a top prize of $10 million.

Huston began this week in 217th place on the points' list, and needs to climb 73 spots to earn a berth in next week's Barclays Classic. A win in Greensboro would vault him into the top 100.

Petrovic and Hansen are also currently outside the top 144, but could claim a spot in the FedEx Cup with a high finish in this event.
