NEW YORK, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Derek Jeter's slow roller scored Melky Cabrera in the ninth inning Monday, giving the New York Yankees a 7-6 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
The top of the ninth cost Mariano Rivera his first blown save since April 20. Melvin Mora led off with a single and scored on a single by Tike Redman to tie the game.
In the bottom of the ninth, Cabrera was hit by a pitch with one out and advanced to third on pinch-hitter Jason Giambi's single. Jeter then hit just slowly enough to allow Cabrera to beat the throw home.
Bobby Abreu hit his 12th homer, Wilson Betemit added a two-run homer and Cabrera's hit streak reached 18 games in the victory, New York's fourth straight.
Rivera (3-3) got the win after 19 straight saves prior to Monday.
Corey Patterson homered and scored twice while Redman also scored twice for Baltimore. Chad Bradford (1-5) suffered the loss.
