NEW YORK, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- New York Mets pitcher Tom Glavine was honored Sunday before the Mets' contest against the Florida Marlins.
The veteran left-hander became baseball's latest 300-game winner last Sunday when the Mets beat the Chicago Cubs 8-3.
"To say that I'm humbled and flattered certainly would not scratch the surface of how I feel right now at this moment," Glavine told the crowd during the pre-game ceremony. "To you guys, the fans in New York, it's been a fun ride for me here (and) it's a pretty cool thing to be a part of."
Glavine also got a video tribute from fellow 300-game winners Don Sutton and Gaylord Perry and hockey great Wayne Gretzky.
The 41-year-old Glavine is baseball's second-oldest active pitcher behind Philadelphia's Jamie Moyer, and the 23rd 300-game winner overall.
