MLB: Pittsburgh 5, San Francisco 0

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- Tom Gorzelanny pitched a complete-game five-hit shutout Sunday afternoon as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat San Francisco, 5-0, completing a three-game sweep.

Gorzelanny (11-6) retired the final 17 batters he faced, and threw 72 of his 115 pitches for strikes. He walked one batter and struck out four.

Pittsburgh’s Josh Phelps tied a career-high with four RBI -- two with his second home run this season in the top of the sixth, and two with a triple in the seventh.

Cesar Izturis drove in the fifth run, and was one of three players with two hits for the Pirates, who had never swept San Francisco at AT&T Park.

Pedro Feliz had two of the five hits for the Giants, who have dropped eight of their last 10 games.

Losing pitcher Barry Zito (8-11) yielded three earned runs and six hits in six innings with three walks and four strikeouts.
