Hamstring injury lands Lo Duca on DL

NEW YORK, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- The New York Mets said Sunday veteran catcher Paul Lo Duca was put on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

He played through pain after the injury occurred July 28 in a base-running situation against the Washington Nationals.

"He said that he just felt he tweaked it," Manager Willie Randolph said on the team's Web site after Saturday's game against the Florida Marlins.

General Manager Omar Minaya said Lo Duca "was not thrilled" about being put on the DL. "It was basically taken out of his hands. It was our decision," Minaya said.

For the season, Lo Duca is hitting .267 with five home runs and 32 RBI in 344 at-bats.

Also, back-up catcher Ramon Castro left Sunday's game after three innings with a back injury.
