Chakvetadze in Bank West finals

STANFORD, Calif., July 29 (UPI) -- Anna Chakvetadze of Russia and India's Sania Mirza won Saturday night and will meet in the finals of the Bank of the West Classic at Stanford, Calif.

The top-seeded Chakvetadze rallied to eliminate No. 3 Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3, 6-2, while Mirza dropped eighth-seeded Austrian Sybille Bammer, 6-2, 5-7, 6-3.

Mirza, ranked No. 35 in the world, reached her first final since 2005 and will have her hands full with Chakvetadze. The Russian won her second tournament of the year last week in Cincinnati, and came into the California event with eight consecutive hard-court match victories and a No. 8 ranking worldwide.
