MLB: Cleveland 10, Minnesota 4

CLEVELAND, July 27 (UPI) -- Jhonny Peralta drove in five runs on a pair of homers Friday night as the Cleveland Indians hammered the visiting Minnesota Twins 10-4.

Peralta had a three-run homer and a two-run shot to back up Paul Byrd (9-4), who gave up 10 hits and four runs in a rocky seven-plus innings.

The Tribe took advantage of two Twins errors in the third inning to put six runs across and take a commanding 6-0 lead. The Indians were up 10-0 before Minnesota scored a pair of runs in the eighth inning and two more in the ninth.

Boof Bonser (5-7) lost his fifth consecutive decision while Jason Kubel hit a two-run homer for the Twins.

The Indians brought veteran and crowd favorite Kenny Lofton back to Cleveland in a trade with the Texas Rangers. Lofton, 40, got into the game and went 3-for-5 with an RBI.
