MLB: N.Y. Yankees 7, Tampa Bay 3 (Game 1)

NEW YORK, July 21 (UPI) -- Hideki Matsui and Shelley Duncan powered the New York Yankees to a 7-3 win over Tampa Bay with two-run homers Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader.

Robinson Cano went 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored for New York, which scored five two-out runs in the sixth to avoid losing three straight. Bobby Abreu and Andy Phillips each had two hits.

New York starter Kei Igawa gave up two runs on seven hits over five innings. He walked three and struck out six. Luis Vizcaino (7-2) grabbed the win by pitching a scoreless sixth.

Jason Hammel lasted just four innings, giving up two runs on three hits. Jae Kuk Ryu (1-2) took the loss, giving up five runs on four hits in only 1 2/3 innings.

B.J. Upton, Ty Wigginton and Raul Casanova all hit solo home runs for the Devil Rays, who have lost two of their last three games.
