MLB: Minnesota 7, LA Angels 5

MINNEAPOLIS, July 20 (UPI) -- Justin Morneau homered and drove in three runs Friday night and Jason Kubel had a two-run triple as the Minnesota Twins beat the Los Angeles Angels, 7-5.

The Twins had a dozen hits, giving Carlos Silva some much-needed support. Silva (8-10) got the win despite allowing five runs on 10 hits in 6 2/3.

Dennys Reyes, Juan Rincon and Joe Nathan combined for 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief with Nathan picking up his 19th save.

John Lackey (12-6) gave up seven runs on 10 hits in five innings to take the loss.

Kubel's triple came as part of a three-run first inning that allowed the Twins to overcome an early 2-0 deficit.

The Angels regained the lead, but the Twins went back in front for good in the third with Morneau's two-run homer highlighting a four-run inning.
