MLB: Washington 7, Houston 6

WASHINGTON, July 18 (UPI) -- Ryan Langerhans hit a three-run homer Wednesday afternoon and the Washington Nationals held on to beat Houston, 7-6.

Langerhans' fifth homer of the season in the bottom of the fifth inning gave Washington a 7-2 lead. Washington's Austin Kearns hit a two-run double in a three-run first inning.

Ronny Belliard and Ryan Church had one RBI apiece, and Church had two hits for the Nationals, who won twice in the three-game series.

Winner Jason Bergmann (2-5) yielded four earned runs and six hits in six innings.

Chad Cordero earned his 17th save.

Six different Houston players had one RBI.

Eric Munson had three hits, and Luke Scott and Mike Lamb both had two hits for the Astros, who sank to a National League low 16-33 on the road.

They came within the final score with a four-run seventh.

Loser Jason Jennings (1-6) gave up seven earned runs and eight hits in five innings.
