MLB: Arizona 5, Milwaukee 2

MILWAUKEE, July 18 (UPI) -- Mark Reynolds broke a 2-2 tie in the eighth with a three-run homer Wednesday, giving Arizona a 5-2 decision over Milwaukee.

The Brewers had a four-game winning streak snapped.

Grant Balfour (0-1) came on to relieve starter Chris Capuano in the eighth and retired the first two batters he faced. But he hit Eric Byrnes with a pitch and, after Byrnes stole second, Balfour walked Conor Jackson.

That brought up Reynolds, who fouled off two pitches on a 2-2 count before hitting his eighth homer of the year.

Reynolds' blast made a winner out of Tony Pena (4-2), who gave up one hit in a two-inning relief stint. Jose Valverde struck out the side in the ninth for his 28th save.

Arizona won for the first time in four tries and for only the third time in 11 games.
