Cards' Pujols NL Player of the Week

NEW YORK, July 16 (UPI) -- St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols was named Monday as the National League Player of the Week.

Pujols, who was left on the bench with the winning runs on base by St. Louis Manager Tony La Russa during Tuesday's All-Star Game, broke out of a three-week slump with four home runs during the short week.

He also had a slugging percentage of 1.357, 19 total bases and a .429 batting average. The 27-year-old had five RBI and scored five times during the period.
