Winner Scott Olsen (7-7) yielded two earned runs on six hits in five shaky innings, but pitched through several jams after walking five batters. He got lucky as Washington scored only two runs in two bases-loaded situations.

Kevin Gregg recorded his 20th save.

Three players had one RBI, while Cabrera, Mike Jacobs, and Alfredo Amezaga each had two hits for the Marlins, who won twice in the three-game series.

Washington's lone all-star, Dmitri Young, hit an RBI single and a sacrifice fly. Ronny Belliard and Ryan Church both had two hits for the Nationals, who have six losses in their last 10 games.

Losing pitcher Jason Simontacchi (6-7) yielded five earned runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings.
