Ferrer tops Almagro at Swedish Open final

BASTAD, Sweden, July 15 (UPI) -- Second-seeded David Ferrer easily handled fellow Spaniard Nicolas Almagro, 6-1, 6-2, in Sunday's finals at the Swedish Open in Bastad.

Ferrer set the tone for the match by quickly breaking serve on the unseeded Almagro, and then put Almagro away in just over one hour for his fourth career title.

"Today I played really well and could play my own game in the final," said Ferrer, the 15th-ranked player in the world.

"Ferrer was playing really well but I didn't play well at all," said Almagro. "It was just one of those days when nothing works."

Ferrer collected a first prize of $77,965.
