Rich Harden goes back to the DL

OAKLAND, Calif., July 12 (UPI) -- Oakland Athletics' pitcher Rich Harden Thursday returned to the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right shoulder.

The move, retroactive to July 8, is Harden's second trip to the DL this season. He was sidelined with the same problem from April 16-June 21.

"It's obviously a blow for the club, but we've managed to do a pretty good job of staying afloat without him for most of the first half," said Oakland General Manager Billy Beane on the team's Web site.

The 25-year-old oft-injured right-hander also had two stints on the DL last season and one in 2005.

He is 1-2 with a 2.45 ERA in 25 2/3 innings, with 11 walks and 27 strikeouts this season. Since the beginning of the 2005 season, he has a record of 15-7 with a 2.92 ERA.

He yielded four earned runs and five hits in 2 2/3 innings last Saturday in a loss against Seattle.
