MLB: Texas 2, Baltimore 1

ARLINGTON, Texas, July 8 (UPI) -- Kenny Lofton Sunday hit a solo home run and scored both runs as the Texas Rangers edged Baltimore, 2-1.

Lofton hit his sixth homer of the season off Baltimore starter and loser Daniel Cabrera in the bottom of the sixth, and scored on Marlon Byrd's RBI single in the first.

Lofton had two of the six hits for the Rangers, who split four games before the All-Star break.

Winner Kevin Millwood (6-7) allowed an earned run and five hits in six innings, with three walks and four strikeouts.

Eric Gagne earned his 12th save.

Nick Markakis drove in Baltimore's lone run with a first-inning single. Chris Gomez had three hits, while Markakis and Brian Roberts both had two hits for the Orioles, who have dropped three of four.

Cabrera (6-10) yielded two earned runs and six hits in six innings, with five walks and eight strikeouts.
