MLB: St. Louis 7, San Francisco 0

ST. LOUIS, July 8 (UPI) -- Chris Duncan Sunday had two hits and three RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals beat San Francisco, 7-0, to avoid a three-game sweep.

Duncan hit a two-run double in the fifth and an RBI single in the seventh.

Albert Pujols, Scott Rolen and Ryan Ludwick each drove in one run. Ludwick had three hits and Brendan Ryan and Juan Encarnacion both had two runs and two hits for the Cardinals, who won six of 10 games before the All-Star break.

Winner Todd Wellemeyer (3-1) gave up just two hits in five scoreless innings, with four walks and two strikeouts.

The Cardinals' bullpen hurled four scoreless relief innings.

Five players all had one hit for the Giants, who have split their last 10 games.

Loser Barry Zito (6-9) surrendered six runs -- five earned -- and eight hits in four innings.

Barry Bonds went 0-for-3 and remains at 751 career home runs, four shy of Hank Aaron's all-time MLB record.
