LONDON, July 8 (UPI) -- Arnaud Clement and Michael Llodra won the Wimbledon doubles final Sunday, marking the first time a French team has won the event in 74 years.
The 10th-seeded duo defeated the top-seeded U.S. team of Bob and Mike Bryan for the Wimbledon honors with a 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 victory.
The Bryan twins had appeared in the last two Wimbledon doubles finals, winning last year's event after losing in 2005.
After his victory Sunday, Clement said he was focusing on his first Grand Slam victory in doubles rather than the honor his team's win brought to his native land.
"The first thing is not about the 74 years, it's about us," Clement said. "For me, it's very special because for me it's my first Grand Slam title in double.
"For Michael, it's the third one. But for me it's a very special feeling. Winning a Grand Slam with one of my best friends, it's more special."
