MLB: Cleveland 9, Toronto 4

TORONTO, July 7 (UPI) -- Casey Blake hit a three-run homer in the first inning Saturday as Cleveland beat Toronto 9-4.

His 14th homer of the season helped Cleveland build a 6-0 lead.

Cleveland's Victor Martinez (16), Grady Sizemore (15) and Trot Nixon (3) all hit solo homers. Martinez extended his hitting streak to 12 games before suffering a foot injury.

Travis Hafner drove in two runs, Josh Barfield hit an RBI single and Jhonny Peralta had three hits for the Indians, who stopped a three-game skid.

Winner Fausto Carmona (10-4) gave up three earned runs and eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Toronto's Vernon Wells, Matt Stairs, Aaron Hill and John McDonald each drove in one run. Frank Thomas had a run and three hits, while Hill and Greg Zaun had two hits each for the Blue Jays, who had won two in a row.

Loser Shaun Marcum (4-3) yielded eight earned runs and nine hits in 3 1/3 innings.
