MLS: Houston 4, New York 0

HOUSTON, July 5 (UPI) -- Joseph Ngwenya scored twice Thursday night as the Houston Dynamo extended its unbeaten streak to seven games with a 4-0 win over New York.

Houston moved within three points of Dallas for the top spot in the Western Conference. New York is winless in its last four outings.

Ngwenya opened the scoring in the 28th minute. His second goal, coming in the 50th minute, gave Houston a 3-0 lead.

The other Houston goals came from Brian Ching and Stuart Holden.

Houston goalkeeper Pat Onstad did not have to make a single save in the shutout.
