Nadal through first round at Wimbledon

WIMBLEDON, England, June 26 (UPI) -- World No. 2 Rafael Nadal led a parade of seeded men players into the second round at Wimbledon with victories Tuesday.

Nadal, seeded second this year and who finished second at Wimbledon in 2006, defeated Mardy Fish 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 in the highlight match of the tournament's second day.

Every seeded player scheduled to play Tuesday, the second day of the third Grand Slam -- and only one played on grass courts -- event of the season, won.

However, 25th-seeded Carlos Moya was ousted, losing to Tim Henman 6-3, 1-6, 5-7, 6-2, 13-11. The match was tied at 5-5 in the fifth set when it was suspended Monday evening because of darkness. After another 14 games Tuesday, Henman advanced. The match took a total of 4 hours, 11 minutes.

In scheduled matches Tuesday: fourth-seeded Novak Djokovic had little trouble with Potito Starace 6-0, 6-3, 6-4; No. 7-seeded Tomas Berdych handled Nicolas Massu 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 6-2; ninth-seeded James Blake topped Igor Andreev 6-3, 6-4, 6-4; 11th-seeded Tommy Robredo beat Robert Kendrick 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3; 12th-seeded Richard Gasquet defeated Bohdan Ulihrach 6-3, 6-4, 6-4; 15th-seeded Ivan Ljubicic stopped Vincent Spadea 6-4, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4); No. 16-seeded Lleyton Hewitt swept Richard Bloomfield 7-5, 6-3, 7-5; and 26th-seeded Marat Safin advanced over Rik De Voest 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 7-5.
