MLB: N.Y. Mets 9, Oakland 1

NEW YORK, June 22 (UPI) -- Tom Glavine allowed one earned run and six hits over eight innings Friday night as the New York Mets walloped Oakland, 9-1.

In getting his 296th career victory, the 41-year-old Glavine (6-5) walked two batters and fanned five to break a four-game personal losing streak. He also had two hits and two RBI.

The Mets broke the game open with a five-run sixth.

Sean Green drove in three runs with a solo homer and a two-run double; Carlos Beltran hit a solo homer and an RBI single; Paul Lo Duca and Carlos Delgado both had one RBI; while Jose Reyes extended his hitting streak to 12 straight games for the Mets -- who ended a two-game skid.

Shannon Stewart hit a solo homer, and both he and Eric Chavez had three hits for the Athletics, who have dropped two of three.

Loser Lenny DiNardo (2-4) surrendered six runs -- two earned -- and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings, and was betrayed by two costly errors.
