MLB: Texas 6, Chi. Cubs 5

ARLINGTON, Texas, June 21 (UPI) -- Frank Catalanotto hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth Thursday afternoon as Texas edged the Chicago Cubs, 6-5.

The Cubs came back from a 5-0 deficit on two RBI singles by Derek Lee, and one each by Mark DeRosa, Rob Bowen and Angel Pagan.

Lee's second run-scoring hit in the top of the sixth tied the score at 5-5 but was wasted when Catalanotto delivered his late game-winner.

The Rangers' Victor Diaz hit a two-run homer in the second.

Adam Melhuse hit a solo shot in the same inning, while Marlon Byrd had one run, two hits, and two RBI for Texas, which has won three of its last four games.

The winner was Eric Gagne (2-0).

Pagan and Lee had three hits each, while both Alfonso Soriano and Daryle Ward both had a run and two hits for the Cubs, who have dropped four of five.

The loser was Bob Howry (3-4).
