MLB: Cincinnati 5, Oakland 2

OAKLAND, Calif., June 20 (UPI) -- Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 582nd career homer and Homer Bailey pitched seven strong innings Tuesday, giving Cincinnati a 5-2 interleague victory over Oakland.

Griffey, who hit a solo shot in the third, also notched his 1,652 RBI, tying him with Tony Perez for 18th place on the all-time list.

Bailey (2-0), a rookie right-hander, gave up only one run on two hits and four walks. He struck out three and didn't give up his first hit until the bottom of the fifth.

Alex Gonzalez and Javier Valentin each drove in a pair of runs for Cincinnati, which has split the first two games of a nine-game road trip.

Chad Gaudin (6-2) was saddled with his first loss over the last 10 starts, giving up four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and a pair of walks in 6 2/3 frames.

Kurt Suzuki hit is first big-league home run for the Athletics, who have lost three of four. Mark Kotsay ripped an RBI double for the A's.
