Canas ousted at Ordina Open

'S-HERTOGENBOSCH, Netherlands, June 20 (UPI) -- No. 3-seeded Guillermo Canas was upset Wednesday in second-round play at the $416,000 Ordina Open grass-court tennis tournament in The Netherlands.

Canas was dumped by qualifier Michael Berrer, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. The victory pushed Berrer into the tournament quarterfinals against Julien Benneteau, who was a 7-6 (7-5), 6-3), winner over Robin Haase in their second-round match.

Also Wednesday, top-seeded Tommy Robredo needed a third set to get by Kristof Vliegen, 6-4, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3; and No. 2 seed Ivan Ljubicic ran by Andreas Seppi, 6-3, 6-4.

Robredo next goes against Peter Wessels, who took out Carlos Berlocq, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3), while Ljubicic takes on Janko Tipsarevic, who stopped Lukas Dlouhy, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.

The other second-round matches Wednesday found Benjamin Becker beating Yves Allegro, 6-4, 7-6 (8-6), and Antony Dupuis stopping Sergio Roitman, 6-5, 7-6 (7-2). Becker and Dupuis are paired in Thursday's quarterfinal play.
