Report: Orioles looking to fire Perlozzo

BALTIMORE, June 18 (UPI) -- The Baltimore Orioles may fire team manager Sam Perlozzo after more than two disappointing seasons with the American League baseball team.

ESPN.com reported Monday that based on team officials' alleged plans to meet with former Florida Marlins manager Joe Giradi, speculation has risen that Perlozzo may soon be fired.

Those rumors, paired with the recent signing of Andy MacPhail to the team's front office, come as the Orioles have fallen 11 games below the .500 mark for the season.

After reaching that season-low mark Sunday with a 6-4 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, Perlozzo reflected on his time with the Orioles.

"It doesn't matter how good I think I did or how many of the right guys I bring in when everything you do that's right turns wrong," Perlozzo said. "There will come a point and time when it just won't matter. I understand that."

During his time with the Orioles, Perlozzo has amassed a 122-164 record, including last season's fourth place finish in the AL East, ESPN.com said.
